We've seen incredible growth at APC – growth in our members, growth in our love for God, and growth in our support of each other and our community. Along the way we've shared prayers, Bible studies, meals, retreats, ball games, baptisms, sermons, and songs! These memories, the fabric of our living history, all took place among the following historical milestones.
1996
First Presbytery of the ARP identifies the Triangle as a potential site of a future church plant.
August 1997
Warren Harvey is called as a church planter and decides on Apex as the community in which to begin a new work. He and his family move to the community.
October 1997
Seventeen people attend an informational meeting about the new church. From that a Bible study begins in the Harvey's home with six couples attending.
November 1997 - March 1998
The Sunday evening Bible study grows into a core group of people committed to starting Ambassador Presbyterian Church.
April 1998
Easter Sunday kicks off a series of four monthly worship services held at Olive Chapel Elementary School. Fifty-five people attend the first service.
August 1998
Ambassador Presbyterian Church begins weekly worship services at the school with around fifty people regularly attending.
1998 - 2002
Ambassador continues to reach out to the community through various events such as an annual Easter Egg Hunt, summer children's activities, fellowship gatherings, small group Bible studies, and one-on-one relationships. The congregation grows to about ninety attendees.
June 2003
Ambassador petitions First Presbytery to become an organized congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
August 2003
Ambassador holds an organizational service where our first elders are ordained and Warren Harvey is officially installed as the pastor. The congregation grows to about 110 people.
January 2004
Six acres of land are identified and purchased in the heart of Apex. By the end of the year, the land is paid for and extra money is set aside for a building fund.
February 2005
A building committee is formed and subsequently hires consulting fi rm Arks Incorporated. The building committee begins researching and planning a facility.
January 2006
The Building Committee makes recommendations regarding a new facility. A Capital Campaign committee is formed and preparations are made to raise funds for the new building. The congregation is around 150 people.
